EP45- Functional fertility, the root cause…
Wednesday Jul 29, 2020
Wednesday Jul 29, 2020
This week we hear a story of infertility that was turned into power by mama, Sarah Clark. After being diagnosed with premature ovarian failure at age 28, she turned to donor eggs to have her two children. It wasn’t until later in life that she discovered the root cause of her infertility: food intolerance and a gut infection. She is passionate about getting to the root cause of where your body is at and why you could be struggling, not just giving up or taking medications.
She has become a fertility coach with the hopes to encourage, inspire and potentially provide healing opportunities to women out there who desire to start a family. Her company, Fab Fertile provides Functional Fertility Solutions and you’ll hear how in depth their testing goes, it’s very impressive.
If you or someone you know are struggling with fertility issues, check out the links below to connect with Sarah and her team.

EP44- I love you, but that was traumatic...
Wednesday Jul 22, 2020
Wednesday Jul 22, 2020
A mama of two, whose daughter was born right at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, Mallory Grantz shares her challenging first birth story and the joy of postpartum during a pandemic. Mallory is a friend from college and it was so wonderful to reconnect and hear her journey.
She was vulnerable enough to share how she lacked the connection with her first born that you think you’re “supposed to feel” right away. With such a traumatic pregnancy, it wasn’t until later into motherhood that she felt that connection and now her son is her mini-me. I was so grateful for her openness and vulnerability about the challenges you can experience at the beginning of motherhood.

EP42- Becoming...finding YOU in motherhood…
Wednesday Jul 08, 2020
Wednesday Jul 08, 2020
Tamra Andress is the mama of one inquisitive girl and one vivacious boy. She is an entrepreneur, a coach, an ordained minister, a podcast host and so much more! She is a breath of fresh air and energy. We discuss the importance of becoming a mom, but simultaneously holding onto or rediscovering your identity as a woman.
We also unpack mom guilt and the many ways in which it can creep up. She discusses how she was so wrapped up in the working world (during the early days of her children’s life) that her life came to a screeching halt when she came home one day and her daughter, instead of running toward her, ran the other direction. She decided to quit her jobs that day and refocus on motherhood. While this process was a blessing, she also found herself trying to find her identity again.
My hope is that you feel inspired after hearing her story to rediscover your identity, if you’ve felt like you lost it through motherhood.

EP41- A military mom...
Wednesday Jul 01, 2020
Wednesday Jul 01, 2020
July 1st...what a memorable few months we’ve been through! Thinking through this week, as we approach July 4th, Independence Day, and not knowing what kind of celebrations we’ll be having this year… I wanted to celebrate by chatting with a military mom!
Monica Arce is a military mom whose husband, Oscar, joined the military 3 years ago when the economy in Puerto Rico was hit so destructively after Hurricane Maria. They had to move from the warmth of Puerto Rico to Alaska. Not only did she and the family have to adjust to climate changes, but also challenges with learning a new language, getting her son settled in a new school system and doing it all on her own. Take a listen to our conversation about her experience and the strength she needs to sustain for her son.

EP40- C-section, the unwritten birth plan...
Wednesday Jun 17, 2020
Wednesday Jun 17, 2020
This week’s episode is a conversation about C-sections, something that doesn’t seem to be discussed. After realizing that very few moms even talk about having a c-section, never-mind going into detail about the challenges around them during and after in recovery, this mama Susannah Hilliard thought it was time to share her experience.
After an emergency c-section, Susannah’s baby was born and she didn’t even know it was happening. Not only that, but her husband was still waiting to be brought into the room to see his son be born, having no idea that he had already arrived. She shares some insight into what the recovery process looks like and is passionate about sharing stories like hers, so that c-section moms know they aren’t alone.
Remember, at the end of the day, the most important thing is that you brought life into the world, no matter how it comes.

***Given the current social climate, Susannah would like to shed light on and recognize that black mothers experience disproportionately high rates of C-sections (35.4% of live births by black mothers were by C-section from the latest data) and death related to pregnancy or childbirth.
As a white mother, she feels it is important to use her voice and any opportunity she can, to address the inequality MOC's experience, even if it's sharing a few links for awareness:

EP39- Stop raising kids, start raising adults...
Wednesday Jun 10, 2020
Wednesday Jun 10, 2020
A discussion with Deana and Kira, two moms from Raising Adults Podcast, about how to focus on raising adults- future focused parenting. A long view of parenting where you focus on the values and character traits of the human you are raising and how you want them to positively contribute to the world.
They explain the importance of establishing your WHY for any parenting choice and discovering how that will lead you to the HOW of any parental situation. Deana, a mom from a blended family of five teenagers and Kira, a mom of boy/girl twins had completely different birthing experiences and have different backgrounds, but come together to support families everywhere.
These mamas are chalk-full of helpful tips and tricks with parenting. I could chat with them for hours, learning from them how to raise children with the adult outcome in mind. I hope you enjoy this conversation as much as I did!

EP38- You have superhero skills...
Wednesday May 27, 2020
Wednesday May 27, 2020
Having her first child at just 19 years old, this week’s guest, Sabrina Ben Salmi from London, discusses the raising of her 5 children and how it transformed her for the better. She came from a challenging childhood with a lack of support, but discovered how to ask her kids: “How am I doing?.” That question has formed a relationship of openness, honesty and trust with each of her children.
The Ben Salmi family has become a family of entrepreneurs, even at just 4 when her youngest son published a book! While they were growing up, she encouraged her children to study personal development together, learn about emotional intelligence, the intricacies of the brain and always spoke to her children as an ally. She would encourage and empower their strengths, passions and curiosities in order to support them to be future focused.
Ben Salmi Family Mantras:
We believe that there is no such thing as failure, only feedback.
We also believe that the journey of one thousand miles begins with a single step in the right direction.

EP36- Tiny home living with 4...
Wednesday May 13, 2020
Wednesday May 13, 2020
It was such a joy to sit down with a dear friend, whom I’ve babysat for quite a bit, just 3 weeks after her second daughter was born. Kate talks about the differences in pregnancy and birth for her two daughters. We then discuss small NYC living. When she and her husband found out they were pregnant with their second, they considered moving, but finally decided that it would be best for them to stay in their one bedroom, 3rd floor walkup.
Listen in as we discuss “Marie Kondo-ing” their apartment and how they worked to transform their small space into something that is manageable for 4 humans and also continues to be a place that they love and enjoy.
